Secretary General

Andrew is the former Postmaster General and former Director of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority. He has 18 years of working experience as a Chief Executive Officer in a number of organizations. He also worked in the banking sector as well as the civil service as an Economist. He holds a Masters of Economic Studies and a Masters in Telecommunication Management.

Maleka Thula

Vice Secretary

Maleka is an Economist with professional experience in Malawi's macroeconomic, financial, and private sector environment. He has been involved in formulation and assessment of public and private sector policies including but not limited to development planning, monetary, fiscal, financial, and external sector policies. Currently, he is working for the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Economic Affairs division. He holds a Master of Development Policy specializing in finance and macroeconomic policy from KDI of Public Policy and Management, South Korea.

Treasurer General

Lovemore is an Economist with 16 years’ experience in the Public Service. His experience is more biased towards strategic planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation. He has worked in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Management. Currently, he is working with Parliament of Malawi as Controller of Planning Services. He holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Malawi.

Victoria Mgawi Jere

Vice Treasurer

Victoria is an Economist at the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Economic Policy Research Department. In her current role, she focuses on Research, Macroeconomic Analysis and Forecasting. Prior, she worked for the Government of Malawi under the Ministry of Finance, Revenue Division, with a focus on Tax Policy Analysis and Revenue Forecasting. Victoria also worked for the United Nations UNWOMEN arm with a focus on Advocacy. Her expertise lie in advocacy, research, forecasting, policy analysis and formulation. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Economics.

Lauryn Nyasulu

President

Lauryn is an Economist and the current President of ECAMA. She also served as the Treasurer General of ECAMA, from 2017 to 2020, prior to becoming President of the Association. A former Public Sector Economist, she is currently working as Policy and Partnerships Development Specialist at USAID, and she is passionate about Inclusive Development. She holds a master’s degree in Economics (2010) collaboratively offered by University of Malawi and the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) and is a certified Data Analyst and Monitoring and Evaluation practitioner.

Mervis Maliketi

Mervis is an Economist working for the Reserve Bank of Malawi in the Economic Policy and Research department since 2016. Prior, she worked for the Economics Association of Malawi (ECAMA). Her interests include research and policy analysis with a bias in Macroeconomics, specifically, Monetary Economics, Public policy, national accounts, and gender mainstreaming. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in economics at the University of Malawi.

Executive Director

Frank is a seasoned Economist with over 20 years postgraduate experience, most of which was acquired in the Reserve Bank of Malawi where he held various positions before joining ECAMA. He holds a master of economic and social studies degree in international finance obtained from University of Wales, Aberystwyth, in 2006 and a Bachelor of social science degree (economics) obtained from the university of Malawi in 1998. He is an accredited fellow of the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI) specialising in Public Debt Management.
