Continuing the conversation on inflation, today we were at the University of Malawi -UNIMA where we held the third public lecture under the same theme of “Taming Inflation: The role of monetary policy”.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Wyton Jombo, Principal Economistand Head of Macroeconomic Forecasting and Modelling at the ReserveBank Of Malawi (RBM). The keys issues that were discussed include the drivers of inflation in Malawi, the role of monetary policy, the tools applied by the RBM, and the broader challenges to achieving macro economicstability.
The event is a key component of our ongoing project,“Enhancing Economic Awareness to Empower Decision-Making in Malawi”, which aims to boost economic literacy across society and promote evidence-based policy dialogue which is being implemented by the Economics Association of Malawi - ECAMA in partnership with Oxfam in Malawi, MalawiEconomic Justice Network- MEJN, and MISA Malawi.
